Screening Process
All 'Guardian Angels' accepted into our agency are professionally screened and hand selected. Here are the steps we take in order to make sure that our 'Guardian Angels' are able to keep you loved ones as safe as possible!
Sitter Screening includes:
- In-depth Application: The applicants start by applying on our website. We designed the form ourselves and made sure we asked all the right questions so we would have as much information about the applicant upfront as possible.
- References Checked: Once we receive the application, we begin checking references. Each applicant is required to supply us with contact information for multiple references. We then contact the reference and ask them to fill out a detailed reference form for us, which they are then able to electronically submit to us. We review each reference and keep that reference on file for each applicant. We require (2) personal references and (2) employer or professional references for each applicant, in addition we require: (3) Childcare references for Babysitters, (2) Elderly references for Elderly Companions and (2) Pet sitting references for Pet sitters. Once references are all back and positive, we then move on to a personal interview.
- Personal Interview: We spend at least an hour interviewing the applicant face-to face. We ask personal information and really get to know the applicant through a series of in-depth questions which not only give us insight into what type of character, morals or values the applicant has, but also give us information on the depth of experience that the applicant has either with children, pets or the elderly. By the end of the interview we know if this is someone that we would trust as one of our 'Guardian Angels' and if we would like to move forward in accepting them into our agency to 'watch over all that matters'.
- Nationwide Background Check, Sex offender search and Social Security Verification: All applicants must authorize Guardian Angels Sitting Service to perform a Background check, Sex offender search and social security verification through a professional company. All results must be positive with no discrepancy in order to officially begin working with our agency. Teachers who currently work in the school system during the time in which they apply with our agency, who have previously been fingerprinted and background checked may provide documentation in order to waive our background check if it was completed within one year.
- Infant/Child and Adult CPR Certification: All sitters are required to show proof of current Infant, Child and Adult CPR Certification obtained through the Red Cross.
- Company Orientation: Once the above steps are completed, the last step of the screening is to complete our Guardian Angels orientation. We have developed a very thorough policy and procedures training program so that once our sitters begin to watch over your loved ones, they are educated on safety awareness as well as policies that as Mom's would be important to us, if the 'Guardian Angel' was in our own home, watching over our own children. Our Orientation includes education on: Guardian Angels Sitting Service's Policies and Procedures, Blood borne Pathogens and Exposure Prevention, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (full course review), Child Safety Restraint Systems, Fire extinguisher safety, First Aid, Health Emergencies (such as asthma awareness, choking and the Heimlich Maneuver, Life threatening allergies and Seizures), Heat Illness prevention as well as a course on Safe Sitting as recommended by the Red Cross.
